Postdoctoral Position Biomedical Engineering 2013 United States

HHMI's Janelia Farm Research Campus, a unique, world-class research community near Washington, D.C., is dedicated to understanding the function of neural circuits and developing synergistic imaging technology. Our highly collaborative structure is designed to support interdisciplinary work in small lab groups. We seek candidates who are comfortable with risk and are able to think independently to develop novel approaches. The Hantman Lab is looking for highly motivated individuals to explore the role of the interactions of the cortex and the cerebellum in sensory processing and motor control.
Principal Responsibilities:
ÂÂ
  • Pharmocogenetic and optogenetic cell-type specific manipulations of the relays between cortex and cerebellum.
  • In vivo and in vitro electrophysiology of cortico-cerebellar pathways.
  • Developing assays to probe the behavioral importance of cortico-cerebellar pathways.
Preferred Qualifications:
ÂÂ
  • PhD in Neuroscience or Biomedical Engineering.
  • Able to work from the molecular level to behavioral level.
  • Ability to think independently.
  • MATLAB experience or similar.
