Postdoctoral position in Cancer Biology 2013 - United States

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Zhaohui Wu, M.D., Ph.D. in the Department of Pathology, and Center for Cancer Research at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), Memphis, TN. The primary research focus will be investigation on how the DNA damage response, such as genotoxic stress-induced protein-coding gene and miRNA transcription via activating transcription factors and epigenetic chromatin modifications, regulates the therapeutic response of cancer (JBC 287: 33036-47, 2012; EMBO J 30: 3741-53, 2011; Mol Cell40: 75-86, 2010). We are using both in vitro cell culture systems and in vivo mouse models to delineate various signaling networks and their biological outcomes in cancer progression and therapeutic response. The approaches used in the lab range widely and include molecular and cell biology techniques, protein biochemistry, transgenic and disease animal models as well as bioinformatics analysis.

More detail about research project in our lab can be found at: https://academic.uthsc.edu/faculty/Zhaohui_Wu.html

Qualifications: Recent Ph.D. and/or M.D. with research strength in one or more of the following areas: genetics, cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, cancer biology/genetics; proven records in research in the related fields; self-motivated; willing to learn and to collaborate; excellent technical and communication skills; prior experience with developing/using transgenic mouse models and bioinformatics is preferred but not required.
