Postdoctoral position in life sciences 2013 - United States

A postdoctoral position is available starting immediately.  The successful applicant will be working on a project aimed at understanding and modulating the impact of pediatric intestinal disease. 

Scope:

 The position offers an exciting opportunity to facilitate the understanding of a disease that affects the smallest and most vulnerable infants.  The successful applicant will work within a busy laboratory environment, but will be part of a small team focused on this novel project.  This is a new position and is affiliated with the departments of pediatric surgery, pediatrics and microbiology and immunology.  Experience working with both cell and animal models, and standard molecular techniques is required.  Aptitude for independent work is necessary, as is the ability to trouble-shoot, interpret, and analyze data.  

Specific Responsibilities:
Conduct experimental research lab work, with capability to complete computer tasks and assist in judging validity of data.

Comfort with basic rodent work, and routine culture techniques (cell culture, bacterial culture) and molecular biology are required.  Use of standard molecular techniques (PCR, western blotting, histology, immunohistochemistry techniques).

  •     Ability to follow protocols.  Analysis and troubleshooting capability.
  •     Maintenance of records; including collecting, extracting, and entering data.
  •     Participation with preparation of data is encouraged, but not required.
