Molecular MicrobiologyPostdoctoral position 2013 - Germany

In the Department of Protein Evolution (Group of Prof. Andrei Lupas) at the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology in Tübingen a Postdoctoral Position in Molecular Microbiology is available. Our department studies broadly the evolution of proteins, using selected model systems and protein families. In a multidisciplinary approach, we combine bioinformatics, protein biochemistry, microbiology, and protein structure determination techniques. The Institute provides an outstanding research environment with state-of-the-art facilities and a stimulating work atmosphere.
Intended projects deal with the function and biogenesis of prokaryotic membrane and surface proteins. For an example of recent work see Hartmann et al., PNAS 18:20907-12 (2012). The position will benefit from collaborations within the framework of SFB766 „Bacterial Cell Envelope: Structure, Function and Infection Interface”.
Requirements:
Candidates should have a proven track record in cellular microbiology (bacteria or archaea), microbial genetics and molecular biology, and a good background in protein biochemistry. The positions are initially limited to 2 years, for suitable candidates an extension with a view towards gaining academic independence is possible.
How to Apply:
For applications, please address your CV and supporting materials, including the names and contact information of up to three references, electronically to karin.lehmann@tuebingen.mpg.de.
