Cellular neuroscience Postdoctoral scientist position 2013 - France

We seek to hire a highly motivated postdoctoral scientist to work on AMPA receptor dynamics and synaptic plasticity in basal ganglia brain slices using a combination of advanced imaging and electrophysiology approaches (receptor diffusion imaging; receptors cross-linking; electrophysiology in acute brain slices). This project is oriented towards the understanding of the contribution of AMPA receptor dynamics in the functioning of subthalamo-nigral glutamatergic synapses and its eventual participation to the beneficial effects of deep brain stimulation in alleviating Parkinson’s disease motor symtoms.

The candidate should have a strong background/interest in cellular neuroscience / imaging / electrophysiology. S/he will work in a highly interdisciplinary research environment, including neurobiologists and microscopy developers.

The project brings together the teams of Jérôme baufreton and Daniel Choquet, with excellent track records in synaptic plasticity and AMPA receptor dynamics. The position is funded for one year and can be renewed for an additional one or two years.

The Bordeaux Neuroscience Institute is a leading European neuroscience research center with outstanding infrastructural support and interaction partners, particularly in cellular neuroscience and synaptic plasticity.
