Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the research group of Francesco Ferraguti at the Dept. Pharmacology, Innsbruck Medical University, to study the connectivity between hippocampus and amygdala in rodents, using several ultrastructural and tracing techniques. The position is for 3 years with the possibility of extension for an additional 12 months.
We are seeking a talented, innovative and enthusiastic researcher willing to contribute to the characterization of the precise connectivity of identified neurons in the mouse amygdala with the hippocampus by means of tract tracing and electron microscopy. These investigations will complement functional studies using optogenetic and in vitro/in vivo recordings carried out in a collaborating lab.
Applicants should preferentially hold an MD or alternatively a PhD in any area of biological sciences. The ideal candidate should have already significant experience in either tract-tracing (preferentially in trans-synaptic tracing) techniques or in electron microscopy.
The working language is English. The Department of Pharmacology offers to and encourages the selected candidate to teach in the local bachelor and PhD program in neuroscience.
