Post Doctoral Fellow in Microbial Pathogenesis - UK, April 2013

Job Reference: 81376
Professor Gordon Dougan FRS and his team are exploiting genetic, immunological and microbial methodologies to analysis the interactions between pathogens and their hosts to shed light on how humans and other animal control infections. Key to the team’s activities is a screen in novel mutant mice as a basis to identify infection susceptibility loci. This team also have a number of high profile worldwide collaborations aimed at investigating important diseases particularly in the healthcare system and the third world.

The team has significant core funding and as part of a consortia they have secured a Wellcome Trust Strategic Award to expand over 5 years the infection and immunity component of the programme. The award brings together world experts in the area of infection and immunity.

We are seeking to recruit a pro-active, independent minded Postdoctoral Fellow to work on the project. This will include the opportunity to investigate the molecular and cellular aspects of how pathogens modify host responses and how this might impact on immunity to disease.
