Neuro-Oncology Postdoctoral Fellowship 2013 USA

A well-funded research lab in the Department of Neuro-Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (which has been continuously ranked as the number 1 cancer center in the US for many years) is seeking individuals at the postdoctoral level to join an outstanding team of scientists dedicated to understanding the biological and molecular mechanisms underlying the progression of malignant tumors. The ongoing research projects focus on the roles of growth factor receptors and other protein kinases, including pyruvate kinase M2, in regulating cellular signal transduction, which contributes to cancer metabolism and tumor invasion and metastasis (Cell, 2012, PMID: 22901803; Nature Cell Biology, 2012, PMID: 23178880; Molecular Cell, 2012, PMID: 23123196; Nature, 2011, PMID: 22056988; Molecular Cell, 2009, PMID: 19941816; Molecular Cell, 2009, PMID: 19595712; Molecular Cell, 2007, PMID: 17244530; Cancer Cell, 2003, PMID: 14706341; Molecular Cell, 2002, PMID: 12049732). Understanding the effect of activation of growth factor receptors and oncogenic protein kinases on cell metabolism, cell-cell adhesion, cell-extracellular matrix interaction, gene transcription regulation, and cell cycle progression will be of great interest. Cutting-edge technologies such as proteomics, DNA array, RNA interference, confocal microscopy, and animal imaging will be available.

Applicants must have an excellent first-author publication history and must be highly motivated. A strong background in molecular biology, cell biology, and/or biochemistry is desired. Experience with signal transduction, cell metabolism, stem cells, and transgenic mouse experiments would be a plus. A competitive salary with an excellent compensation and benefits package will be provided.

Please send curriculum vitae, names of three references, and a statement of research interest to Zhimin (James) Lu (zhiminlu@mdanderson.org).
