- M.Sc. and Ph.D. students as well as Post-Doctoral fellows
are invited to join the laboratory of Cytokine Biology, in the Shraga
Segal Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Faculty of Health
Sciences
Major scientific projects of the laboratory include:
1) The role of inflammation in the malignant process (carcinogenesis, tumor invasion and metastasis, tumor angiogenesis and interactions of the tumor with the host’s immune system).
2) Interleukin-1 (IL-1) receptor and Toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling in sterile inflammation and angiogenesis in the malignant process.
3) Mechanisms and signaling pathways of novel intracellular non-secretable isoforms of the cytokine IL-1a.
4) Intervention in IL-1 expression in anti-tumor therapeutic approaches.
Techniques used in the laboratory include tissue culture and in vitro
work, molecular biology techniques and in vivo work. These are applied to cutting-edge issues in cytokine and tumor immunobiology, stem cell biology and angiogenesis. Excellent teamwork and atmosphere
