University Hospital, Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg
The Institute for Clinical Neurobiology seeks a postdoctoral
fellow for expanding our research on iPS cell technologies to generate
motoneurons and other types of neurons for analysis of molecular
pathomechanisms of neuro- degeneration. The institute has long-standing
expertise in characterization of disease mechanisms in motoneuron
disease, using mouse and cell culture models. The aim of our work is to
validate new mouse- and patient-derived iPS cells in state-of-art cell
culture models to study defects in neurotrophin signaling pathways and
signaling pathways for axon stabilization and maintenance. For further
information, see recent publications from our lab (Selvaraj et al., JCB
2012, doi: 10.1083/jcb.201203109, Pühringer et al., Nature Neuroscience
2013, doi:10.1038/nn.3333).
We are looking for a highly motivated scientist with good
background in stem cell biology. The candidate will use molecular
biology methods including viral tools and advanced cell culture
techniques, including compartmentalized cultures for studying
alterations in proteome and transcriptome in axonal compartments.
Experience with mouse embryonic cell culture techniques is of advantage.
The project profits from a strong cooperation and knowledge
transfer between partner groups. The applicant will find a project which
is well embedded in the research focus of our Institute. He/she will
have access to a modern and well- equipped research facility and will
work with already available mouse models.
Applications from severely handicapped persons with basically
similar qualifications will be given priority. Salary will be according
to TV-L.
Interested candidates should email a CV, a brief statement of
research interest, representative publications and name two references
