Postdoctoral Position in Neurodegeneration Research United States

Postdoctoral Position in Neurodegeneration Research
We aim to uncover the molecular etiology of the motor neurodegenerative disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). We have discovered oligomeric species of superoxide dismutase that are potentially toxic in ALS. Our goals are to characterize oligomerization mechanism(s) and to use a novel framework for drug discovery to develop strategies to inhibit assembly. We seek a molecular biologist/biochemist to pursue further understanding of oligomer formation and develop in vitro and in vivo assays to test lead compounds.
Start Date: By January 1, 2014.
