UK: Postdoctoral position to study mitosis, 2013


We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher to study how cells enter mitosis. This is an opportunity to carry out original independent research into the pathways that control the trigger to mitosis, and in particular how this decision is co-ordinated with DNA replication and DNA damage. The research is part of a larger effort in Jonathon Pines' laboratory to understand how cell division is controlled by phosphorylation and ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis. Experience in these areas of research or in microscopy and image analysis or in protein biochemistry will be an advantage. Candidates are expected to be exceptional, highly motivated scientists who have a PhD degree in Molecular Cell Biology or Biochemistry, or in related areas in the Physical Sciences, and an excellent track record of research.
