One postdoctoral research fellow position is available in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, College of Pharmacy, Oklahoma City. Dr. S. Awasthi’s research group is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral research fellow to study the immunomodulation and biological activity of Toll-like receptor 4-interacting SP-A regions and peptides in cell culture and animal models of both infectious and inflammatory diseases. In this position, the postdoctoral researcher will help elucidate potential mechanism(s) involved in host cell immunomodulation. Multi-disciplinary approaches are utilized in Dr. S. Awasthi’s research program including: 1) structural biology, 2) mammalian two-hybrid, 3) genetic transfection, 4) microbiological and immunological studies; and 5) contemporary biochemical and molecular biology techniques including Western blot/immunoprecipitation and confocal microscopy etc. The position is supported through NIH/NIGMS grant funds and University Growth fund. The initial appointment would be for 1 year with the possibility of renewal. Review of applications will begin immediately and the position will remain open until filled.

Qualifications
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Immunology/Cell Biology/Biochemistry, or a related field in Biological Sciences with peer-reviewed publication(s). Those with a background in immunology or biochemistry are particularly encouraged to apply. Experience with molecular and cell biology, Western blot/immunoprecipitation methods is essential. Experience in working with mouse models is a plus.
