Postdoc position in Proteomics and Metabolomics, Netherlands

As a postdoc in the Center for Proteomics and Metabolomics you will join a leading team in clinical imaging mass spectrometry. You will develop new capabilities for quantitative and validated imaging mass spectrometry analyses and apply these novel tools to soft-tissue sarcomas. In this manner imaging mass spectrometry, complemented by the analysis of microdissected samples, will be used to investigate the biomolecular intratumor heterogeneity in these complex tumors, thereby revealing the biomolecular changes accompanying tumor progression and providing improved diagnostic capabilities.
The project is a collaboration with the Department of Pathology (LUMC). You will join leading experts in imaging mass spectrometry, clinical mass spectrometry and soft tissue sarcoma pathology; and use class leading biomolecular techniques in molecular imaging and biomolecular analysis.
The department
The work will be performed within the hospital’s Center for Proteomics and Metabolomics, which is the principal expertise center for clinical proteomics and metabolomics. The broad range of expertise and facilities available within the Center and through the close partnership with the Department of Pathology provides excellent opportunities for analyzing a broad spectrum of biomolecular classes, including many that are implicated in tumor development (mRNA, peptides, proteins, glycoproteins, metabolites). The research project will provide a rich learning environment for the application of modern bioanalytical methods in clinical research.
Your profile
You have a PhD in Biomolecular mass spectrometry or Bioinformatics and an excellent command of the English language, since you will be expected to present and publish your results at international workshops and conferences. A flexible work approach is essential, as well as the ability to work effectively within an international, multidisciplinary team. Above all, you are enthusiastic and ambitious.
We offer
You will be employed on the basis of a 36-hour week. Appointment is temporary with a maximum of 3 years. Your salary will depend on your qualifications and experience, with a maximum of € 3.961 gross per month based on a 36-hour week (scale 10, CAO UMC).
