2014 Postdoctoral Position in Molecular biology in USA


The Cihakova lab at the Division of Immunology, Department of Pathology, Johns Hopkins University Is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to research inflammatory heart disease, cardiac fibrosis and remodeling. The research is supported by newly founded NIH RO1 and support is guaranteed for 5 years. We employ murine model of inflammatory heart disease, experimental autoimmune myocarditis (EAM) to investigate factors that modulate development of myocarditis and its sequela dilated cardiomyopathy. The successful candidate will perform in vivo and ex vivo mouse experiments, molecular biology and cell culture, and a variety of other general laboratory experiments and will also oversee breading of mice for the project with help of laboratory technician. The desired candidate will have research experience in mouse models, strong flow cytometry skills, RT-PCR, PCR, ELISA, in vitro cultures, blotting, plasmid preparation and other molecular biology and immunology techniques. Candidate should possess a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences or a related field, and successful track record of first author publications and good references. The Cihakova laboratory is located in the hospital campus of Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland.
