USA: Postdoctoral scientist Position in Biomedical Sciences

The Nair lab at the Division of Biomedical Sciences, University of California Riverside is seeking a postdoctoral scientist to participate in our research on macrophage responses in immunity and inflammation. We employ murine infection models of hookworm and bacterial infection of the lung and gastrointestinal tract to investigate how macrophages are activated and what factors they secrete to regulate immunity and inflammation. The successful candidate will perform in vivo and ex vivo mouse experiments, molecular biology and cell culture, and a variety of other general laboratory experiments. The desired candidate will have research experience in mouse models of infection, immunity and macrophage activation and a successful track record of first author publications. Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences or a related field, and less than two years postdoctoral experience. The University of California, Riverside is situated in an historic citrus growing area surrounded by mountain ranges. Riverside is about an hour away from ski slopes, surfing, or hiking in mountain or desert environments, and housing in the area is very affordable. The campus is also located in a prime position to take advantage of the other universities, research institutes, and biotech industries present in Southern California. The University of California is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer committed to excellence through diversity, and strongly encourages applications from all qualified applicants, including women and minorities.
