The Department of Health Sciences Research at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN is seeking a Postdoctoral/Research Fellow in the Bioinformatics Program. The candidate will contribute with his/her bioinformatics expertise to advancing translational genomics research sponsored by the Center for Individualized Medicine. Mayo Clinic has recently started using genome-sequencing based testing to guide clinical decision making for patients with rare diseases and advanced cancers, and will expand these activities in 2013. The process of taking cutting edge research findings and translating these into changes in clinical practice is considered a top strategic priority by Mayo Clinic leadership.
Candidates should have a PhD in bioinformatics, biology, biophysics or a related field and 2-4 years experience in research. Applicants with bioinformatics domain expertise in Clinical Genomics, Epigenomics, Pharmacogenomics, Metagenomics or in the integrated analysis of multiple omics data types are encouraged to apply. Must have domain expertise in genomics, proteomics or metabolomics data analysis and data interpretation. Candidates should have published evidence of having independently and successfully led research projects, preferably in Next Generation Sequencing, and presented research findings at regional, national or international conferences. Flexibility, creativity and excellent communication skills are a must.
