Post-doctoral position in neuroscience biochemistry at Italy

The Centre for Integrative Biology (CIBIO) is a new interdisciplinary Centre within the University of Trento, one of the top-ranked academic institutions in Italy. CIBIO is the first initiative on molecular medicine and biotechnology in Trentino, funded by the Autonomous Province which is characterized by a high level of public investment in innovation. 


Job Description: Under the supervision of the principal investigator, Dr. Maria Pennuto, this person will conduct postdoctoral-level research in motor neuron disease, such as spinal and bulbar muscular atrophy and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The candidate should have expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell culture techniques and in vivo systems.


The postdoctoral fellow will function as part of a team at CIBIO working on basic disease mechanisms and development of strategies for patient treatment. As part of the team, the candidate will design, conduct and analyze experiments and experimental data, develop new ideas that promote current research, prepare and publish scientific manuscripts under direction of principal investigator, teach techniques to others, and may be responsible for the operation of specific equipment. The candidate is also expected to bring new expertise to the team’s current research program.
As a team member, s/he will present research results at laboratory meetings, institutional seminars and national conferences. The candidate should also be proficient in English in order to successfully communicate and write research results for scientific publications as necessary.


Eligibility Requirements: M.D. or Ph.D. in neuroscience, biochemistry or related field from a top-tier university or research program and an excellent publication record. At least one first-author publication is required.
