A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Alexei Morozov to study synaptic and network properties of neuronal circuits underlying emotions. We focus on interactions between the amygdala and the prefrontal cortex and investigate how social stress alters this circuitry, particularly, recruitment of genetically identifiable subclasses of GABAergic neurons and its regulation by dopamine. The candidate will use optogenetics, whole cell recording and multi-neuron calcium imaging of neuronal activity in slice to investigate how behavior modulates the circuit. Applicants with experience in slice or in vivo electrophysiology are encouraged to apply.
