We are seeking a highly motivated, very enthusiastic postdoctoral research fellow to join our group to investigate the function of pre-synaptic HCN channels in the entorhinal cortex (see Huang et al. (2011) Nat. Neurosci., 14, 478-86). The project will involve the use of whole-cell patch-clamp recordings from neurons present in acute brain slices together with two photon imaging, anatomical methods and in vivo stereotaxic injections and recordings. This post is funded by an ERC Starter Independent Grant for 30 months in the first instance.

Key Requirements
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in a relevant subject area. The candidate must have knowledge of voltage-gated ion channel biophysics, properties and function and synaptic transmission, skills in preparation of acute brain slices and in making electrophysiological recordings from neurons in brain slices. Skills in two photon imaging, the use of programmes such as MATLAB , in vivo stereotaxic injections and in vivo recordings would be desirable.
